Most any other player besides Wilson I would say give Reeves 20 games (minus a few later because I guess that's how suspensions work now), but in this case it was a blindside shoulder hit with no head contact on Tom Wilson...2 games max. |

Didn't Wilson get away with the exact same hit last week in NJ without suspension? Late. Blindside. No head contact. |

Well I guess we will find out shortly if DOPS actually has some sort of outlined structure in their rulings or if they just make it up as they go. |

If blindside is the precedent, I think in an ironic twist of fate Wilson himself set the standard when he blindsided that kid last week. Every caps fan on earth said he shouldnt be suspended for it and the NHL agreed.
Late? Hardly. Can you even count two steamboats. That's a finished shoulder to shoulder check, Wilson helps him out by admiring his pass like it was the best pass ever.
Wilson clipped the last one in the back of the shoulder and it was a-okay, reeves catches him from the side with Wilson's neck cranked 90 degrees. Shouldn't have even been a major. |

Wilson got what he deserved. Live by the sword, die by the sword. No suspension for this it's not as bad as the one Wilson got away with last week |

Not really.
The hit in Jersey, Wilson didn't target anyone, if anything he was trying to step around and ended up making contact.
Reeves was clearly targeting Wilson.
I think the major difference is intent.
Given the NHL's record of horrible calls I wouldn't be shocked if this wasn't even reviewed. But in my opinion I think this should be a 3-4 game suspension. Just based off that fact that he clearly knew what he was doing, he targeted Wilson all game. This is intent to injure. |

These are YOUR words for Reaves: "The hit, while not to the head, was clearly late and from the blindside. I’d expect more discipline from the NHL on this one regardless of who the victim was"
These are YOUR words from last weeks game that occurred to Brett Seney from the Devs last week:
"Tom Wilson collided with Devils forward Brett Seney in the Capitals zone as he caught the back shoulder of the much smaller Seney. Wilson was ejected with a 5 minute match penalty and the Caps had to test their penalty kill again at a pivotal point in the game. Coach Todd Reirden was upset that the play was even called a major."
I think if you used your words from Reaves hit to Wilson's hit on Seney you would be right. Wondering too what coach Reirden had to say? Was he upset that play was even called. Homerism at its finest

Don't we already know this is the case? Shouldn't be a suspension based on the precedent of last week, but Wilson smacked his head off the ice and wobbled off the ice so......

He looked more like someone who wanted people to think that he was trying to step around, clearly braced himself for the hit. Typical Wilson.

That part I agree with. It was not a hit to the head but it's the kind of hit that the league wants to get rid off so I suspect Reaves will be suspended. |

He sat there and admired his pass, fist no-no
Not having his lid on properly is not RR problem
Wilson (Caps) have to live by the rules he has created.

The league should start penalizing and suspending players for their actions, not the consequences.

Targetting and attempting to destroy a player with a legal body check is not grounds for Jack. Reaves could target Wilson and pummel his face into the ice with his fists, but he chose to do it in a legal way when opportunity struck. I could care less who Reaves hits here. He didn't hit head at all and at worst case scenario tried to time his hit to be well within all rules of the NHL.
As a judgement call the interference is an acceptable call...2 minutes is really all that's warranted here. The refs far too often see an injured player an just assume something bad happened. He smacked his head on the ice after his bucket fell from his head(shouldnt that be a bit tighter?). The act of the hit was never an intent to injure..or Reaves would have clipped his head. |

Yes.... but what the do and what they SHOULD do has always been too big of a hurdle for the NHL. |

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the first part.
However, my worry is that because the Reeves hit was on Wilson. The league will brush it off.
Personally, I think the league already gives some players a hard time and others get away with murder. They need to set some standards around the league and be consistent.
I also think they should keep making those videos like Shanny used to about why a player was or wasn't suspended. They still make a few but not nearly as many as they should. |

No kidding - he literally continued skating and looked back.
I actually like Wilson, but when you play the game you do, and do that to so many other players, keep your head up.
The hit is maybe a little late. Not much. Blindside? I can't agree with that. It was pretty much front of body to front of body. Is it blindside because someone is literally looks completely the opposite direction in which they are skating? |

I don't think that the fact that Wilson was the target will have an impact on the suspension. But people will complain no matter what the league ends up doing.
I do agree that they should suspend all players, including star players (ex: I'm a Pens fan and I like Crosby, but he should have been suspended multiple times.)

It was a 2 minute interference penalty. Only looked bad because Wilson hit his head on the ice. Hope he's okay. |
